Anima Sylvarum series, Plates 18 & 19
Portrait of a Seer
The woman depicted in this set is one of the main subjects of the Anima Sylvarum series.
Anima Sylvarum presents the feminine figure as an archetypal presence within the sub-tropical terrain, engaging the landscape through ritualized gesture, trance, and preparation. Set in cypress wetlands and woodland clearings, the work draws from mythic traditions and early pictorialist photography to explore altered states of perception and humanity’s estranged relationship with the living earth. Nudity functions symbolically, removing social identity and positioning the body as a receptive instrument—vulnerable, attentive, and in dialogue with the environment.
