"Borderline Oceanā aims to describe those situations of mental suffering (transient or permanent) that are placed between neurosis and psychosis. It is a condition where the reality test is compromised, where the image and perception of oneself are markedly and persistently unstable, where the prevailing defense mechanisms are those centered on splitting: a condition in which evil and good ( represented by the 2 white and black spheres) cannot be integrated, oscillating between love and hate, between idealization and devaluation or persecutory experience, without being able to find a balance.
The use of mirrors and reflections highlights the artist's unstable self-perception and compromised understanding of reality. The technical and color choices used create an atmosphere of isolation and solitude, with a strong sense of judgment and external observation. The use of neutral colors and minimalist compositions conveys a sense of apparent calm, contrasting with the internal emotional turmoil typical of borderline personality disorder.
