The series Remnants explores coping with the loss of a close person, whose death I learned about only after the funeral. It examines themes of grief and memory through the integration of traditional photographic techniques with handcrafted material interventions.

Photographs are printed on Japanese Awagami Kozo paper, noted for its delicate texture and subtle translucency, and layered between two sheets of natural silk using animal glue. This approach allows the images to exist physically within the material, creating a subtle dialogue between photograph and fabric while adding spatial depth.

The layered structure reflects the complexity of memory, where clear recollections interweave with fleeting, fragmented impressions. The choice of materials underscores both the fragility and durability of memory, and the handcrafted execution gives each piece a unique character.

Remnants presents a cohesive visual narrative, translating personal experience into a tangible artistic form that engages viewers both visually and conceptually.
