This work is born from time.
A human body sits in light, pale and warm, unarmoured and present. Skin holds softness, weight, and the subtle marks of being alive. Against it rests the artichoke: dense, structured, protective. One yields; the other resists.
The relationship did not reveal itself instantly. It emerged through long hours of watching. As the artichokes grew and began to open, attention slowed. Forms were observed repeatedly, patiently, until their presence became undeniable. What mattered was not the plant itself, but how its strength held against the human body, how armour pressed gently against flesh.
Light completes the encounter. Pale tones move across the nude, while shadow sharpens the artichoke’s geometry. Colour becomes tension rather than decoration: green and violet holding their ground against warmth and skin.
This was not staged for symbolism. The artichoke does not stand in for the body. It exists beside it, offering contrast without explanation. The power of the work lies in restraint, in allowing different kinds of strength to coexist without hierarchy.
A Season of Colour reflects a moment of fullness reached through attention. An image shaped not by urgency, but by waiting long enough for form, colour, and presence to reveal themselves.
