Intermingling Autumn Hues

This photograph captures the iconic Blue Pond (Aoiike) in Biei, Hokkaido, during the vibrant autumn season, when the surrounding foliage explodes in rich reds, oranges, and golds.

Employing the Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) technique, I intentionally blurred the outlines of the trees and merged the elements—vibrant fall colors, turquoise water, and reflections—into a fluid, dreamlike abstraction. Rather than a literal representation, this approach seeks to evoke the essential beauty and fleeting impression of the scene, much like the Impressionist painters who captured the essence of light, color, and atmosphere over precise detail.

Through controlled motion during exposure, the image dissolves boundaries, inviting viewers to experience the serene harmony and emotional resonance of this natural wonder, as if viewing it through the soft lens of memory and sensation.
