Forged Meditation

In this historic door fitting, the artist recognises a symbolic embodiment of the Buddha. The strict symmetry of the iron scrollwork forms a figure in deep meditation: the lower ornaments suggest the foundation of a lotus seat, while the upper curves read as protective arms. A central point crowns the form like a sign of awakening. Beyond the figure, the inverted sepia-gold tonality lends the metal an almost immaterial radiance. The halo of light around the fitting transforms architecture into aura—a visual metaphor for illumination, where material weight seems to dissolve. The door becomes a threshold of insight, marking a passage from the profane to the inward.
