In „Arcus Photinus“ (Luminous Arc), the artist seeks the moment of ignition within the apparently ordinary. What might first read as branches becomes a kind of lightning script: an arc of light emanating from the urgrund, scoring its trace into the surface. By working from the negative and rotating the image 180 degrees, the motif is released from botanical certainty—root becomes sky, wood becomes an electrical trajectory. Orientation is deliberately unsettled, and the photograph begins to operate as a sign: branching as discharge, structure as event.
The work is marked by a refined visual intelligence and an assured command of transformation. Its green-toned depth functions like a sedimented space in which matter and image meet, and from which the bright form appears to rise—at once organic and technical, plant and phenomenon. This ambiguity is sustained with admirable restraint, allowing the picture to remain open while still feeling inevitable.
„Arcus Photinus“ reads as an emanation rather than a depiction: not decoration, but a quiet impact of time, energy and memory. In the inversion, the artist makes visible a compelling proposition—that every growth contains a fracture, and every fracture carries the possibility of light. The result is a strong and memorable photograph, distinguished by its conceptual clarity and poetic force.
