Natures Punch

Over my last 10 years of on and off photography since 11 years old, I had always wanted a powerful lightning photo to put on my wall. I remember constantly trying to go into empty fields during storms but never being able to capture them. Finally after leaving work early and sprinting home in the rain, I had captured it.



It took 3 hours of standing in an empty field in the pouring rain to achieve, But what I had captured was a powerful photo that initially pushed me backwards. I remember seeing the preview on my soaked camera screen and just falling on the ground while holding my hands in the air as a celebration (possibly waking up the neighborhood beside me at 11:30pm) but I didn't care. I had finally made my 11 year old self happy after 10 years of on and off work.



To me this photo is about determination and power. We all hold the ability to do something incredible. For me that is capturing the beauty of life, and for the clouds, it is casting thunderstorms for the world to see. Everyone is capable of doing something truly special, sometimes it takes months, or even in my case years, to find what makes us special.
