The Power of Sound

Zajno is a digital design and development studio that creates unconventional websites and top-notch apps. We cherish each of our projects and, therefore, we pay great attention to creating dedicated case studies. To make every story special, we create a custom photoshoot for each project to reflect it’s essence in a metaphorical way. The story we’d like to share with you is called The Power of Sound.



The Power of Sound is a web experience about the importance of green energy and its power to change — and save — our world. We made it at our first internal Hackathon at Zajno within 2 days. The result was so good that we decided to share it with the world and won Website Of The Day on CSS Design Awards.



In the experience, we imagine a future where entire cities will be powered by sustainable energy sources — sound being one of them. Accordingly, visitors to our website are asked to generate electricity with their voices — and having made some noise, they are informed of how many lights they’d managed to power. Finally, they are invited to use their digital voice to raise awareness via social media.



This project is special to us not only because of the way it was created, but also because of the problems we address - environment, green energy and urban ecosystem. Sound energy has great potential to become a revolutionary green energy source. Using voices to generate power is also an analogy for raising one’s voice to generate awareness of the climate emergency.



We wanted to share this idea in the photos for our case study, where a human is holding heavy wind turbines and mosses on their shoulders. The windmill is a universal symbol of serenity and resilience while mosses represent concepts of beauty, simplicity and humility. Both of them symbolize life and hope in the world of rapid climate change.
