Woeful Hedonist

This photo is the coda to a five part series called “A (Bathroom) Scene”, which is an imaginative series of events that explores themes of enablement and avoidance, specifically when an individual needs introspection. In this particular photo, the Woeful Hedonist is hunched over while holding a glass of liquor and a blunt, while the Enabler is pouring clear liquor over the Hedonist’s head. The written monologue is in the Enabler’s voice.

Have you learned nothing at all

from your past introspections?



You should’ve known

that this avenue (to stability) is a false one,

filled with pools of meaningless depths.

Can your (hedonist) ego

not handle this nadir moment?

take the purer path

to mental clarity.
