Strangely Familiar

Reflections

For this body of work, I want to show my zoom-in perspective of the iconic Hong Kong aquarium. My overall theme is the aspects of reflecting neon light and the abstract form recreated by the fish and the water. Primitively, I am drawn to the beauty of the abstract that the water created itself. So I tried to photograph more photos of that and found out that those photos are separate from the iconic Hong Kong photos that people usually shoot. Therefore, my goal is to make my audience wonder what I am photographing because at this time people are used to photographs of neon lights, cityscape, and the most famous Hong Kong-style buildings. The abstraction in my photos symbolizes the political uncertainties in Hong Kong. I photograph it in a way that people might get questions just like the situation now in Hong Kong. Therefore, I hope this collection of work can lead people to a different but strangely familiar aspect of Hong Kong.
