The unique collection of the Transcarpathian Museum of Architecture and Life in Uzhhorod represents the identity and character of the inhabitants of the smallest region of Ukraine - Transcarpathia of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. At that time, these were the poorest citizens of Austria-Hungary. But, despite this, the inhabitants of Transcarpathia, and these are different ethnic groups: Ukrainians (Lemkos, Draks, Hutsuls and Dolyans), Hungarians, Romanians, Slovaks, Germans (Swabians), Jews, all they were able to inherit extraordinary wealth. It is preserved in folk life, clothing and textiles, pottery. These are patterns and ornaments, shape and design, richness of color and a wide range of its purpose. Different ethnic groups of Transcarpathia lived on this territory, limited by the Carpathian Mountains and mountain rivers Tisza, harsh climate, but they managed to coexist peacefully for centuries, as well as maintain their identity and originality and pass it on to the next generations. Today you can see this beauty in the descendants of those people who also live, work, create in Transcarpathia. "The unique cultural heritage of the peoples of Transcarpathia" will tell you about this incredible wealth of the poorest region, which now rests on four European borders, the beauty and spiritual wealth of Transcarpathians, the work of craftsmen, life, pride and fading color, but still alive.
