The Black Church, originally built in 1703, sits inside the Búðahraun lava field in the Southern coast of Iceland’s Snæfellsnes peninsula. I stayed at the Hotel Budir, which is located directly across the street and was dazzled by the stunning scenery at every turn. I was moved to capture the solitary splendor of the church at sunrise.
