The Underground. The Tube. The Metro. The Subway. Whatsoever it’s called, it’s a snaking passageway of tunnels for people to follow to find the subterranean trains. Urban travel at its finest, rapid and timely, with a clear route for following the colourful lines of direction traversing the metropolis. London’s Underground launched in the late 1800’s and has developed in innovation through today using contactless payments and increased train capacities. Not much has altered in how the tube stations appear, in fact photos taken inside on the platforms from the early 20th century might nearly be mistaken for nowadays. Urban transportation is simple, swift, and used day-after-day by approximately 5 million passengers, with over 500 trains moving about the metropolitan area at peak times to its nearly 300 stations. Walking through the passageways for a first time visitor oftentimes evokes wonder and a moment of admiration at the remarkable history and iconic nature of the transit system.
