Impro at Madison

I made this series in 2022 in an older factory that has been transformed in four studios, each one with its own theme. It is part of a collaboration project with Dorka, a young talented model from Budapest, and Sandor, a Hungarian photography lecturer and friend who is coaching me on lighting techniques and artistic arrangements. When entering the studio, I immediately got impressed by the backdrop that was featuring a striking arrangement of flowers. Sandor and I simply asked Dorka to improvise and take different poses she felt comfortable with on the couch. We knew we could rely on her talent. The light on the left-hand side was switched off and on to bring a different mood on the pictures in the series. Back at home, I decided to convert the series in monochrome to enhance the contrasts and, most importantly, enhance these moments of timeless beauty. At a time when we're overwhelmed by color pictures of women who get undressed for commercial purposes, monochrome often allows photographers to move away from such mainstream and highlight the model's beauty and grace in a more artistic way.
