I developed my artistic style starting with a strong focus on creating landscape images, ranging from maritime to urban to industrial views. After moving into my own studio, the controlled environment allows me to utilize my life experiences to input heart and soul into each image by experimenting with composition and lighting. I now create floral and still life studies.

A wide range of colors, from pastels to the very vivid, are present in everyday life across a broad range of subjects. To eliminate the distraction of color, I create my artwork using black and white film. This allows me to interact with the subjects by focusing on textures, shapes, forms, staging plus the application of light creating expressive floral studies with a sense of movement.

According to widely held belief, flowers are a true reflection of how people who give them feel. My feelings are expressed through the selection of the subject, cut flowers, or focusing on their parts and spontaneous composition. My varied life experiences, including being a member of the LGBTQ+ community and now living as a woman, opened my mind to new perspectives influencing my artistic vision. The resulting images can present elements of sensuality, erotica, explicitly, or romance.

The snowy white fringed tulip captured my interest because of the shape, form, and texture. From the Dutch Golden Age to modern day gift giving, tulips symbolize wealth, prosperity, and love. For this project, my objective was twofold, first to capture partner and family love; second, to capture unique views of a single stem. While the white flower would be a challenge to maintain a pure white flower against a rich black background, it would provide for a powerful statement.

My unique floral studies are often reflective of a painting and the works of Robert Mapplethorpe, Georgia O'Keefe, and Imogen Cunningham.
