One Pool, Los Angeles

This project is on one pool in Los Angeles. I photographed the pool for two years. The series examines the pool's reflections on water as the light changes across days and seasons. The series is about illusion.



As a visiting Easterner to Los Angeles, I felt dislocated, an alien in a mirage. Los Angeles-specific details locate me,

such as the palms, the range of aquas, the sharp light. But the images are a mirage, an uncertain and subterranean

world, a fantasy. It is beautiful and transient. I embraced that Los Angeles, that shape- shifting dream. The illusion,

to me, is symbolic of my experience of Los Angeles.
