CHARACTERS

The series of photographs “Characters” is dedicated to the historical district of Taipei called Wanhua District. The author, using glass street fencing as an artistic method to achieve a semi-surreal image, photographs random passers-by taking a short break at the fountain opposite the historical Longshan Temple. For the author of the series, the special state of natural light is very important for conveying the emotional and individual perception of an almost portrait image of people outside any social event context, people mostly with their backs or a half-turn to the author and facing the turbulent life along the noisy street near the temple. The author with his camera is approached as close as possible to the picture subjects. Which enhances the emotional concentration in the perception of the characters in an environment seemingly cut off from the chaos of the big city.
