Shadia With The Pearl Earring

Planning my shoot with Shadia was a bit of a challenge at first. I love working with my models' hair, but Shadia wears a hijab, so that was obviously not an option, and I had to figure out how to incorporate this (for me) unusual piece of clothing into my images. Then I had this idea of recreating this famous painting by Vermeer and she was super excited about the idea. Using only some window light, we did the shoot in my living room and it was a fun and interesting challenge for both of us.
