The exterior of the Sagrada Familia is impressive, but the interior is simply breathtaking. The columns are modeled on trees with branched branches. Gaudí's idea was that the interior should be reminiscent of a forest. But the branched columns also allowed the builder to do without the buttresses necessary in the Gothic style.
The colors of the window glass are chosen so that cooler light comes in through blue and green glass in the morning. In the afternoon, the interior is dominated by warm red and orange tones. It's almost unbelievable the effects that light creates.
