I am fascinated by terns and their behavior catching insects from the surface of water. They leave behind a beautiful curcy water trail behind them. The action is so fast that you can see it only if you take a photo or slow motion video.

I have tried for 3 or 4 years to catch this action in a good light, time and place. So many factors to keep in mind for this picture.

The light needs to be side or back light, so the water droplets pop nicely in the picture. And the background, in this case the trees, should stay dark, so the Sun shouldn't reach the background trees.

The Tersn is white, so I underexpose my picture to around -2 steps, so the background gets even darker and the Tern stays illuminated.

And here it is. This the picture I'm proud of.
