The Farewell

"Hail the victorious dead!" And yet, what is the price of glory, and for those who survive us?



Inspired by the beautiful writing of Tolkien, artisans and enthusiastic re-enactors came together to create this scene, pulling aesthetics from both fantasy and history.

Hand painted banners and shields, sewn garments, and constructed funeral biers were all a part of the creation process, while the final images were stitched together to preserve detail. Colours and lighting were made to evoke the feeling of paintings and traditional art.
