This ongoing project is based on my attraction to surrealist painting, in particular the work of René Magritte.
The two paintings “Torse nu dans les nuages” (1937) and “Magie noire” (1945) were the first source of inspiration. The exploration of various other works by the painter, including “La géante” (1929), enabled this project to be developed, also enriched according to the creations with nods to the inventiveness of Salvador Dali.
The original idea was to transform human bodies into torsos sculpted in various materials, such as marble or stone. Depending on the creations, the representation of the bodies in different aspects offers greater freedom to express the message.
The cloud motif, so dear to René Magritte, is a key component. Depending on the creations, the clouds become an enhancement to the bodies, a support for an element or a vector of dynamics.
In the end, photography dialogues with painting and sculpture.
Several images have already been selected for group exhibitions and won awards in various competitions.
