While walking around Old Havana, Cuba, I was touched by the poverty of the people. This young boy caught my eye as he watched me, an American woman walking in his streets with a camera. He locked eyes with me and I snapped this photo of him. I was able to catch his eyes through the green chain link fence and he gave me a look of concern. The children in the foreground are blurred out and framed him out perfectly for the shot. As he and the other children played innocently, I could not help but wonder what his life was like based on the poverty filled area he lived in. His eyes cut right to my heart and spoke to the child inner child that lived within me. I was once a child of poverty myself.
