Cathedral Island and Tumski Bridge at Night | Wrocław, Poland

Cathedral Island in Wrocław, Poland, holds a special place in my heart. It was one of the first places I photographed when my passion for photography began, inspired by my visits to the city while my partner, Daria, studied there. Surrounded by cobblestone streets and medieval architecture, the island’s historic charm captivated me. I was especially enchanted by the lamplighter who lit the gas street lamps each evening, casting a magical glow that felt timeless.



My early attempts to capture this beauty were frustrating. The cathedral’s towers were poorly lit, lost in harsh shadows that hid their intricate details. No matter how hard I tried, my photos failed to convey the magnificence I saw. But I was determined to do justice to this enchanting place.



Years later, armed with better skills and equipment, I returned to Cathedral Island. During my most recent visit in December 2023, I was greeted by a breathtaking scene—Tumski Bridge illuminated with festive Christmas lights, casting a warm glow over the island. At that moment, everything aligned perfectly. The balance of light and shadow brought my vision to life.
