Change is a phenomenon that is commonly experienced by all persons from

individual transitions to cultural alterations. The images in this series portray

various stages of transformation as it unfolds from the practical considerations

of change to the psychological conditions of agitation, and to the challenges

that may be encountered during this process. These stages and events

associated with change are communicated through the construction of surreal

architectural states that represent dynamic movement, juxtaposed to the more

typically static positions found in architecture. These surreal states are allegories

that reveal hidden meanings for humans as they move from their current

conditions of order to a position of change that is defined by more complexity in

their development, form and presentation.

The title assigned to each photograph in this series is integral to the

interpretation of the image and how it may represent an element associated with

change.

Each image is created through a combination of manual photo editing steps that include a deconstruction of the original architectural image to create a mirror image, adding new sky backgrounds, adding 1-2 additional layers of supportive photos to create double exposures, 1 overlay and extensive editing on each layer where required to create the necessary effect. All of the photography used in the created images was captured by the photographer, Richard Petronio. There was no AI used in the construction of these photos.
