Milford Sound Sunshine

Milford Sound is one of those epic Lord of the Rings type New Zealand scenes. It is magnificent on a rainy day, the rock being so steep and the soil so shallow that waterfalls instantly form everywhere as soon as rain starts. This however was the first time my wife was seeing the area, so it was fitting we be there on a rare blue-sky Summers day.

For all a photographer would not normally shoot in midday sun, I felt this suited the scene of a newly married couple under the dramatic landscape.

The sun was deliberately shrouded behind an overhead tree to simplify the extremely varied light intensities within this panorama
