This picture of Anna is part of my project Cocoon, realized with several models using a singular prop: a length of tights several meters long, in black or flesh tones. In this black-and-white image, Anna’s naked body is completely enveloped in black fabric, creating a striking tension between motion and restraint.

The project began as a way to highlight the beauty of the female form through a reduced, minimalistic approach. Over time, it evolved into an exploration of emotion, unease, and vulnerability. With Anna, this evolution reached its most radical form.

Her body is caught in dynamic suspension, shaped and constrained by the cocoon. One arm and one leg stretch outward—not in an effort to escape, but as an expression of movement within limits. Her eyes are closed, her mouth wide open. The gesture does not suggest fear, but something more ambiguous: intensity, release, perhaps even a silent cry.

Here the fabric functions not as a second skin, but as a prison - an external structure that defines her space and boundaries. It hides details yet sharpens tension, reducing the body to lines of force and containment. The nudity, stripped of any erotic undertone, appears natural, necessary, and integral to the image’s stark directness.

Interpretations remain open. Some may see the work as a narrative of constraint and motion, others as an allegory of human fragility under pressure. The cocoon becomes a stage for transformation, a metaphorical threshold where body and fabric collide, forcing expression through gesture and face rather than through freedom.

Cocoon reframes the body not simply as an object of beauty, but as a vessel for states of being: trapped, suspended, or balanced between silence and expression. Anna’s presence - at once vulnerable and powerful - invites the viewer into this tension.
