Dan McCormack earned his MFA in Photography at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago on 1969. Dan began his career of teaching photography at Perdue University .Next he taught in Brooklyn at Pratt Institute. After a year he then went on to the State University of New York at New Paltz. After that he taught at several Community Colleges. Finally he taught Photography at Marist College from 1991 to 2023. For his final years he was head of the Film Photography program.
While he was living in upstate Accord, he co-directed the Mombaccus Art Center. Then he joined the Woodstock Artists Co-op. Next he joined the Catskill Center for Photography as a vice president which later became the Center for Photography in Woodstock.
Dan McCormack taught photography workshops with the Nude at the Belle Levine Art center in Mahopac, NY and the Unison Arts Center in New Paltz, NY and he lead Photography Critiques at the Mombaccus Art Center, next the Center for Photography in Woodock and the finally the Barrett Art Center in Poughkeepsie.
Dan won a NYSCA Fellowship in Photography in 1982 and the Woodstock School of Art Fellowship in 1993 and the Ultimate Eye Foundation Fellowship in figurative photography in 2009 in California. Dan McCormack has had many local and national exhibits. In February of 2024, he had a show "50 Years of my Nude Photography at the ASK Gallery.in Kingston, NY.
