Gian Paolo Russo

I was born in Naples in 1974, and although life has taken me across borders and through many different cultures, my heart and my lens have always remained anchored to the streets of my hometown. My journey as a photographer began as a boy; back then, it was a way to explore the world. Today, it is how I find my place within it. To me, Naples is more than a city—it is a state of mind that I can only describe as "exciting." I am fascinated by the contrast of its daily life: the overwhelming vibrancy that greets you at every corner, and the sudden, profound silences found in its hidden shadows. In my work, I look for what isn't immediately visible on the surface. I seek the emotions tucked away in the folds of the ordinary, capturing the soul of a place that is as restless.
