A Rising Legend

On a quiet morning in late November 2025, I set out with a singular goal: to capture an intimate portrait of a mature bull moose, one that revealed the texture of his fur, the character in his face, and the grandeur of his antlers. I wasn’t seeking drama or confrontation, just a moment of connection, unforced and undisturbed.

Two hours into my search, I spotted him resting beneath a conifer. I knelt in the brush and waited. Eventually, he rose and walked toward me, the light falling just right across his features. He acknowledged my presence with a glance, then turned away, continuing on his path. In that brief exchange, I captured the image I had envisioned, quiet, majestic, and true to the spirit of the wild. I left him in peace, grateful for the encounter.
