Through photographing emotions, I form a direct connection to people and can see how each person adapts and blends into nature, and I find the combination of these two elements very interesting. For me, nudity reveals a person in their own natural, genuine and open state which has to be seen as more than something superficial. It’s also a state in which a person is at their most vulnerable, and that should be respected. In my photographs, and especially in this series, seeing a person in their most natural state, together with the natural element of water, is important to me, as is the fact that my subjects can be free. Free to be themselves exactly as they are in their own perfection. In a situation in which no clothing or other element other than water can conceal this perfection. Being just as they are so that only their thoughts and feelings are important because behind it all is the story they are moving towards. We feel love and tenderness, but we also feel longing, sorrow and hate. We sometimes find ourselves in situations which we can’t influence or control the outcome, and the feelings these thoughts generate wreak havoc on our psyches. That’s why I also want to create a therapeutic experience for my subjects or at least allow them to put their experiences in perspective and free them of their thoughts so the world can carry them onwards. That’s why I’m motivated by the diversity of emotions and their expression in my photography. For me, photography is a wordless, creative and passionate form of communication between people and different art perspectives.
