Typhoon Kalmaegi was a deadly and devastating tropical cyclone that affected multiple parts of the Philippines, particularly in Cebu, and later struck Vietnam as one of the strongest typhoons on record in the area during early November 2025.

More than 300 peopled were killed, 549 were injured and 113 were missing, with a $546 million economic loss for the two countries after the typhoon struck the two countries with torrential rains that caused widespread flooding.

In the Philippines alone, thousands of homes were partially or completely destroyed and over 500,000 people were displaced, making it one of the deadliest typhoons to hit the country, which has become a victim of climate change and extreme weather events.
