This photographic series focuses on a newly completed modern residential landmark, documenting the precise geometric evolution of contemporary architectural facades. The most striking feature of this building is its elevation of "Habitable Balconies" (Livable Balconies) from simple functional spaces to sculptural works of art. As urban development advances and the demand for living quality rises, large-scale landscaped balconies have become a hallmark of new-generation housing; however, this architecture redefines vertical living through a unique visual vocabulary.
Throughout the process, I observed how the designers replaced traditional, monotonous flat stacking with complex "rhombus geometry" and interlocking facets, transforming the building's exterior into a finely cut diamond. This "diamond-carved" design poses immense engineering challenges: each sharp edge and cantilevered arc requires intricate structural calculations and precise formwork. Moreover, integrating large-scale greenery into these staggered facets required overcoming obstacles in soil-weight distribution and concealed drainage systems—a testament to the peak of construction technology.
I intentionally chose a monochrome palette to strip away the distraction of color, focusing entirely on pure geometric structures and spatial layers. In the stark contrast of black and white, the sharp, diamond-like edges of the balconies and the organic curves of the growing vegetation interweave into a powerful sense of rhythm and visual tension. This work is not only a tribute to the craftsmanship of a single building but a profound gaze into the future of urban residential aesthetics.
