Vronsky Battles On

During my visit to Amboseli in January this year the whole park & surrounding area was dealing with one of the worst droughts in 40 years. Its impact could be seen everywhere, including the body weight of Vronsky, a 47 year old big Tusker. I had seen Vronsky six months previously & I was shocked to see how much weight he’d lost when I compared pictures. This sighting of him was particularly special as it was only me & my guide & Vronsky which allowed me to experiment with different frames & compositions. To get more of the scene in the image I shot this on a 50mm lens as the wind whipped up & the storm skies beckoned. It looks like he’s battling the elements but I hope his resilience shines through.
