Children of a forgotten world

They are children like all the others, but these seem to have been predestined to a cruel and unjust fate. They were born and live in a dump. The only world they know is always gray and infested with flies that fight over the scraps of food they find in the garbage. They don't know that the sea and rivers exist, they've never seen television or heard the music that would surely fascinate them. They have to invent toys out of bits of plastic and metal that survive the constant fires to have anything resembling a childhood. The vacant, sad look in their eyes shows that they are no longer real children and that their world seems to have been forgotten by all of us
