This photograph is part of my NOIR TOKYO series, which captures the people of Tokyo through bold contrasts and deep shadows. Taken in Asakusa, one of Tokyo’s historic downtown districts, it features the silhouette of an elderly man riding a bicycle against the setting sun. The dramatic backlighting creates a striking contrast, turning an everyday scene into a powerful visual moment.



The balance of light and shadow gives this image a timeless, almost painterly feel, where the simplicity of black and white enhances the depth of the composition. NOIR TOKYO is a series dedicated to capturing the essence of the city—its people, its rhythm, and the fleeting beauty found in ordinary moments.
