My 80s Clothes

A photo series of self portraits wearing my actual clothes that I still have from the 1980s.



What do I do with all my clothes that I still have from the 1980s? This was the question I asked myself. Throwing them away or donating them to a thrift store was out of the question as they had sentimental value and who would want to wear such garish garments anyway?



The only logical answer was to do a photo series of self portraits with me wearing my actual 80s clothes that I still own. The items I'm wearing in the photos were purchased from about 1984 to 1989. I'm just happy I still fit in them.



All background photos were photographed by me. The beer can collection, beach, surf board and basketball backgrounds I shot as a kid in the 1970s on 35mm film. The boat on the river background I shot in 1995 on 35mm film on the Detroit River. I shot the palm tree background in Beverly Hills in 2023.
