Hi! My name is Eftychia Kazouka and I am a photographer.
I took my first picture, with my family’s telemetric camera, when I was 5 years old. Never stopped since (taking pictures, I mean…)
“From the eye to the heart to the camera”
Photography is, etymologically, the writing of the light. For decades now, I “write” my life’s story with light… and shadows, mostly in black & white.
Photography is about seeing instead of just looking… it’s about patience… it’s about love…
I studied photography and cinematography in my home country, Greece, and at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. Since 2000 I live and work in Paris.
Black & white photography is my preferred means of expression. Architecture, hidden scenes of daily life, details of the ordinary are my favorite subjects.
I have been working with architects for many years now. Architectural photography is about finding the rhythm of a specific building; and then translate it into a play of shadow and light, depth and structure.
In 2017, I started associating my passion for photography with my love of nature in what I call "a photographer's approach to landscape design". The observation of nature, through proxygraphy & macrophotography, and in black & white, as an inspiration for the creation of gardens adopting organic shapes, volumes & expositions. The absence of colour makes it easier to distinguish these shapes & forms. The deep black, the dazzling white, the distinct shades, create fascinating plays of scale, texture and depth. Through the lens, in each flower an infinite landscape emerges.
