This male lion was on the move and keenly observant of his surroundings, and a potential meal. The calving wildebeest migration had principally left the area, but not all predators had moved south with the vulnerable calfs and their mothers slowly trailing behind. Moreover, orphaned newborns were utterly defenceless.
