Ancient devotions

The orthodox religion is integral to life in Ethiopia and Lalibela epitomises the epicentre of their faith. The rock hewn churches are incredible for their unique creation, hewn from volcanic rock, and the way in which they have served their beliefs. These churches are a UNESCO world heritage site and deservedly so. Most of the photos taken here are candid moments where people are immersed in prayer. Their devotion is admirable. The church gives people hope and their beliefs are engrained in all aspects of their lives.
